OpenWay and Eracom Technologies bolster WAY4 EMV Card Issuing solution with turnkey transaction encryption
Integration of the WAY4 EMV Card Issuing solution, developed by OpenWay, and Eracom Technologies’ ProtectServer Orange External transaction encryption module allows banks and processors to get the most from chip card issuance
February 3, 2005 - Brussels, Belgium and Krefeld, Germany
WAY4 announced today the integration of the WAY4 EMV Card Issuing Solution with the Eracom Technologies ProtectServer Orange-External hardware security module (HSM). Now, an organization can integrate a pre-tested EMV solution that delivers FIPS 140 Level 3 certified cryptographic transaction security.
Previously, card issuers had to select components from individual suppliers and then face the complexity of integrating these various technologies together. The successful integration and testing of the WAY4 EMV Card Issuing Solution and the ProtectServer Orange-External HSM means that a single solution is available to provide a complete EMV card issuing capability. Delivered pre-integrated and tested, this will dramatically reduce the costs, complexity, final deployment and testing time within an EMV project.
WAY4 EMV Card Issuing is a comprehensive solution developed to manage and streamline data preparation and electronic personalization of magnetic and EMV cards. Depending on the issuing volume and personalization type (in-house or outsourcing), the WAY4 EMV Card Issuing solution can support data preparation, PIN generation, PIN envelope printing, electronic chip personalization, workflow management and other functionality. By supporting major payment card types and personalization hardware, WAY4 EMV Card Issuing can enable a wide range of financial and multi-application solutions.
ProtectServer Orange-External is an intelligent Hardware Security Module designed to allow flexible and cost-effective deployment of hardware based encryption via a TCP/IP network connection. Commonly employed within the worlds leading financial institutions, ProtectServer Orange-External specifically delivers the highest level of transaction security with its FIPS 140 Level 3 certified core, and is therefore particularly attractive to innovative EMV applications such as WAY4 EMV Card Issuing.
"The development and marketing of the WAY4 EMV Card Issuing solution is guided predominantly by both the EMV requirements of in-house centers as well as 3rd party personalization bureaus”, stated Andrew Vereninov, Director of OpenWay. “These bureaus are interested in switching to a flexible and stable EMV personalization platform within their project limits and keeping their existing infrastructure. By integrating ProtectServer Orange-External with the WAY4 EMV Card Issuing kit, we can provide our clients with a whole range of comprehensive secure solutions for EMV personalization of any scale and high technological effectiveness, that can be deployed rapidly mitigating the risk of integration problems."
“Eracom Technologies pioneered the ‘network capable HSM’ as early as 1987, leading to ProtectServer Orange-External being one of the first hardware security modules approved by international payment systems. This significant achievement is recognition and a statement toward our credibility to deliver global industry leading data encryption technology”, states Ansgar Dodt, Managing Director of Eracom Technologies, EMEA. “The basic reason for ProtectServer Orange-External’s widespread global use and attractiveness to EMV applications is its high-level certified protection of confidential data and encryption keys on logic and physical levels. Additionally, it’s reliable internal architecture, significant device capacity, and easy-to-customize module configuration, coupled with a diversified pricing policy, also contributes considerably to its global popularity within the financial services sector”.
As an ongoing pioneer of cryptographic technology for over 25 years, Eracom Technologies delivers proven, trusted security solutions to a wide range of leading blue chip companies and large governments throughout the world.
In the last quarter of a century, Eracom Technologies’ pioneering approach to development and continual innovation has earned it a leadership position in the IT security and payment technology industries. Eracom Technologies delivers transaction security solutions via Hardware Security Modules (HSMs) and enables Privacy of Information through its Full Disk Encryption plus File and Folder Encryption software.
